I recommend a linen, viscose linen, linen blend, chambray, lightweight denim, lightweight gabardine, tencel, viscose poplin or cotton poplin.
You'll need to heat-seal the top, underside of collar and facing (as well as the shirring if you're making a top or skirt version).

With this pattern, you have 8 garments to create:

In its long dress version, I see it very well in nude linen paired with a pair of mules, ideal for going to work.
In its short version, pair it with light denim and a pair of sneakers.
For the top version, I'd go for a full look with Brigitte pants in terracotta tencel.
Finally, the short skirt could be sewn into dark denim, to be paired with a basic tee-shirt!
