It all depends on how you want your kimono to look: if you want to make a very flowing version, or even a negligee, I recommend viscose crepe, polyester or silk satin, or cotton voile.
If you want a version with a little more hold, turn to a linen, viscose linen, chambray, tencel or cotton poplin.
Finally, for a version with lots of structure, opt for wool, denim or gabardine.
