Description

The Maria sweatshirt is a women's sweatshirt in sizes 34 to 48. It is designed for a 1.65m stature.

Its gathered shoulder sleeves, long sleeve cuffs and chest clip hidden in the front cut-outs make it a feminine model.

With its 2 versions, you can play it sober by sewing a plain piece, create a colorblock piece or sew an even more feminine version by integrating lace or broderie anglaise.

Version A of the Maria sweater is an all-knit version (jersey or knit). You can go for sobriety by sewing it in a single fabric, or play with the colors of the yokes to create a color-block piece.

For version B, the top pieces are cut from a warp-and-weft fabric like embroidery anglaise. This allows you to play with the transparency of the décolleté for an even more feminine piece.

You can modify the pattern to remove certain yokes.

The most important measurements for this model are stature and bust size.

If you're taller or shorter than the advertised stature, and the measurements of the finished garment don't match you, you can make adjustments: you can shorten or lengthen the sleeve and/or bust.

If you're between 2 sizes, take the larger size.

The PDF patterns are to be printed by you. The A4 booklet sheets are to be assembled edge-to-edge . Laeti & Léa patterns are Multicalque, so you're free to print one size or several, with or without seam allowance.

Materials required

Fabric

• A stretch fabric: French Terry, sweatshirt jersey, fleece, minky, velvet knit, fleece.

The fabric you choose must have at least 20% stretch, i.e. a 10cm strip must be able to stretch to 12cm when stretched perpendicular to the grain.

You can also sew it into a sweater-type knit: in this case, I recommend sewing the size underneath.

• Optional: matching ribbing for collar pieces, cuff bands, waist band (these pieces can be cut from the ribbing or from the main fabric.)

• Optional: for the top front and top back pieces, you can use a warp-and-weft fabric (non-stretchable) such as broderie anglaise to play with the transparency of the décolleté

• Be careful: you'll need to cut the top-back piece in 2 (with or without the seam allowance on the middle back, depending on the bias option chosen) and create a slit to allow the head to pass through.

If you prefer to hem rather than add the waistband, lengthen the pattern at the lower back and front (7 cm + hem value + hem fold).

Small haberdashery

• Matching thread, jersey needles.

• For version A: 25 cm bias, 3 cm wide (or cut bias lengthwise, standard bias width being 4 cm) for sweat collar edging.

• For version B: 1m bias and a button.
