The Joséphine dress pays homage to Joséphine Baker, French by adoption, singer and dancer of the early 20th century. Involved in the resistance and at the side of Martin Luther King, she was a "free woman" whom I find very inspiring.
Joséphine is also the first name of a dear friend of mine, and this pattern is a tribute to her.

The Joséphine dress is a romantic, bohemian mid-season model . It highlights the shoulders with a pretty square neckline in front and back.

It's loose-fitting and comfortable, but can also mark the waist with little bows on the sides. The button placket on the front bust is simply decorative. Optional pockets.

There are two options: three-quarter sleeves (which can be lengthened into long sleeves) or straps. The latter are wide, allowing a bra to be worn without showing.

You can also sew a crop-top or blouse from this pattern.
